Training
» Retrospect:
The real world… a scary thought for a college student. As if exams, roommates, dating, and cafeteria food weren’t enough, we have to deal with that looming question…what am I going to do after I graduate?
ECN sympathizes with college students and realizes that they have vast amounts of untapped potential that if directed could change our world in radical ways. They are thirsty for a movement of God and eager to know God’s will for their lives.
If you are a college student, ECN wants to help you channel your passion into purpose. We have developed two ways to help you do that; one is right on campus, and the other is abroad. We are all missionaries, no matter where we are, so why not connect your education to eternity!
Retrospect: Reviving Grassroots Christianity is an on-campus training class that teaches you how to reach a postmodern generation with the gospel by deconstructing Christianity to its grassroots. Learn how to imbed authentic communities of faith within secular sub-cultures. The eight-session class answers your immediate questions and also prepares you for life after graduation as you learn how to live a life on mission with God.
» Urban Immersion:
To create awareness, gain experience and engage in relational contact with emerging culture.
To experience a variety of church expressions that are tailored to emerging culture.
To be challenged, stretched and molded by God and His heart for the lost.
Emerging Church Network is proud to sponsor this three day training event that is sure to be instrumental in the training and testing of your team. Whether students, staff members or church planters, participants will have the opportunity to experience first hand an urban, post-modern city in a variety of cultural settings. Our goal is not just to expose, but to immerse.
» Essentials:
We live in a world of risk ruled by ambiguity. In our dynamic society, we must look ahead to foresee the upcoming changes and then adapt to them appropriately. Rather than swinging a dull ax, God wants every church starter to gain the skills needed to succeed. In light of this, we have created a comprehensive training class geared specifically towards church planting pastors and teams called The Essentials for Starting a New Testament Church.
What’s so essential about Essentials?
Through years of training and coaching church planters and leaders, we have discovered what makes a church rise and fall. It is crucial for every church leader to have a clear understanding of these peaks and pitfalls. Essentials is a compilation of practical tools and revolutionary insights that will help you enhance your ministry and set your church planting venture on course to reach your city and world with the gospel of Christ.
What will I learn in Essentials?
Get answers to seven questions that every Christian leader should be asking. Discuss topics such as:
- Recapturing the Heart of Jesus for His Church
- Clarifying Your Calling
- Church Models: Thinking Outside the Box
- Selecting the Right Location
- Cultivating an Intercessory Prayer Ministry
- Catalyzing Churches in a Postmodern Culture
- Building an Effective Launch Team
- Researching Your Cultural Context
- A Fresh Look at Evangelism
- Transformational Discipleship
- How to Develop Multiplying Small Groups
- Leadership Development
- Budgeting, Bylaws, and Legal Issues
Will Essentials benefit me?
That depends. Do you have a desire to see the church reach her greatest potential? Are you looking for the most effective way to reach the unreached? Do you sense God is doing something in you that is beyond yourself? If so, this course is for you!
How long is Essentials?
The Essentials is a 13-week course (30 hours of training) that will give you a comprehensive look at starting a new church.
*** We also offer a condensed version of the Essentials in a two-day format called Starting a Glocal Church: Turbo Training.
These training events are made available through a collaborative effort between ECN and New Church Initiatives, the authors of the training material. For more information about NCI, please visit their website www.newchurchinitiatives.org.
